The ADHD Experiment: The first day


Elliott’s been medicated for over 10 hours now and it’s safe to say that the medication has worn off. 

He’s bouncing off the walls again and definitely not as calm as he’s been for most of the day, prior to now. Lizze was saying that he may need a maintenance dose at some point during the day. We’ll have to talk to the doctor next week and see what he says.

I think I’m going to call today a success. 

Elliott seemed happier today and that’s got to count for something, right?

Yeah! That is great! 

 

As he is growing, adjusting from time to time will definitely will be needed.

Great first step! Medication often needs to be changed or tweaked to find the right kind and dose for each person.

do you mind my asking which med you are trying?  I ask this because tomorrow we will be giving our son, Jack, who also has aspergers and major anxiety/ signs and symptoms of adhd his first dose of focalin.  I am just pretty nervous, medications were never really on my to do list, you know?  But like you, I want to improve his quality of life

@E The Third Glance He might be a little too young and too soon for him being be able to express the feelings. My daughter started her ADHD medication only at 9, when she was officially diagnosed, so expressing her feelings wasn't her thing at all... Only after about 4-5 months, she started to reference to her "brain not working right" without medicine. And now for about 9 months of taking medication, she started to express other feeling when she feels overstimulated or stressed, which is truly amazing for me not just see the well known behavior signs, but her saying what she feels!
