Here are some extra income options :)
0I wanted to start this topic because I know how important this can be to the special needs parent. The Lost and Tired family is struggling with many aspects of our lives including finances. My goal with this post is to begin a discussion about improving the quality of life for the special needs parents and their families. . All the positive thinking in the world doesn’t pay the bills or provide for the special sensory needs of our kids. Memories of Watching The Oscars
One of my all-time favorite memories shared with my grandmother is getting together and watching the Oscars together. She has watched them for many years now and we took to watching them together about 10 years ago. While we used to crowd together in her tiny living room to watch them together now instead she comes over to my large apartment and we watch them on the tv I got after I heard about free installation cable. While the shows generally have the same theme we always love to see the different presenters and see who wins.
Although the Oscars have had a number of different awards presenters I think some of my all-time favorites include funny man Ben Stiller, legendary Barbara Streisand, John Travolta and Sandra Bullock. My grandmother has her own favorites in Tom Hanks, Colin Firth and Tina Fey.
Another favorite part of the show for us is seeing all the different fashion choices chosen by the celebrities. While most men choose the classic black tuxedo it is exciting to see what different designers and gowns the women choose to wear. My grandmother says it reminds her of the good old days in Hollywood where there was still glamour.
Lastly we love to hear the acceptance speeches. I try to imagine how excited they must be when they step on stage to get their own academy award and how accomplished they must feel. While it is not an every day event, I’m glad it is something my grandmother and I have a chance to share together
My wife has launched her new blog
3My wife has launched her new site. She has left wordpress.com and moved to her own site. Her new blog can be found at Daily Mommy Survival
Check it out she has lots to say. She’s avery talented writer and puts me to shame. Drop by to say hi and check out her new site. She’s worked really hard to get it back up and running.
Check this out if you have car questions
1We used to drive a nice Saturn L200 but honestly it was to small. We were without a car when we lost it. My aunt and uncle gave us a Kia Sportage and that got a through some tough times. When the electrical system went completely nuts (apparently a known and non-repairable condition) we had to finally put her to rest. We are very grateful and lucky to have such generous family. Then my parents fixed up their Chevy Lumina and gave that to us. We are currently still driving that. However, with the behavioral issues some of our kids have (namely Gavin) we have safety issues to worry about. So we are in the market for a new or nicely used mini-van. We have found that the pilot seats work out really well. The kids stay separated and are still easily accessible. Everyone has their space and we can even safely bring Maggie along for the ride.
Right now it’s honestly probably smarter to start thinking about making the move. I have some pending maintenance that will need to be done in the near future. I looked a few of them up to get an idea of the cost involved and I found this site called http://repairpal.com. I searched for things like oil change and found this http://repairpal.com/engine-oil-filter-change. Then I searched for tune up and found http://repairpal.com/tune-up-what-is-it. This is pretty cool because this site kind of breaks things down for you and helps you to estimate the cost and find a shop to have it done. You just put in your information like ”Houston auto repair” if you lived in Houston and you find this http://repairpal.com/houston-auto-repair. Computers are my thing not cars so this was a nice find.
Then I actually started playing around with the site and they even have car reviews, kind of like epinions.com where regular people write the reviews based on personal experience. For example you could look up Acura Integra and find this http://repairpal.com/acura-integra-1998. In my case I used it t check out my future van the chevy venture it actually got great reviews http://repairpal.com/chevrolet-venture-2005.
Anyone out there have any experience with mini vans? Please share because we really do need to make the move this summer.

Facebooking my grandkids
1My guest poster today is Esther Calgary..
Guest post written by Esther Calgary
Once my friends at my retirement community and I discovered Facebook a little over a year ago, I started finding childhood friends and out-of-touch co-workers. The satellite internet specials I had found when I moved to the community let me chat on Facebook chat and keep up with everyone’s whereabouts and projects.
But I was hesitant to add them as friends on there because I knew that they may not want to be friends with me on there and I wasn’t sure if I wanted them to see my Facebook wall anyway. It’s not that I wanted to keep my conversations private, it’s that some funny jokes that my friends post on my wall could make my grandkids feel inappropriate just because they probably don’t want to know that their relatives think about that stuff.
However, I guess that one of my grandsons found me on Facebook because he sent me a friend request on there. I accepted, and just made sure that my wall was hidden from him. I noticed that he did the same to me.
That’s a compromise I’m OK with.
