Total therapy Tuesday: 11/20/2012

Tuesdays are the days that we cram most of the therapy for the boys into. We juggle speech, OT and soon PT as well.  We also see Dr.  Patti in the early evening as well.

In total, I think we have 7 or 8 different appointments every Tuesday.

These are the days that the boys typically sleep really well and without much struggle.

By the end of the day, Lizze and I are throughly drained and ready to do nothing for the rest of the night.

UPDATE:

All three of the boys did well at Concorde Kids today.  Even Gavin did well and he’s been having problems as of late.

Great job guys.  Daddy’s ubber proud of you all.  :-)

Leaving school early

The school year has just begun and already the schedule is getting a bit crazy. Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s,  we have to pick the boys up from school 30 minutes early.

We then have to race to get 2 of the 3 boys to speech and occupational therapy.

I hate that we have to pull the kids out early, in order to get her to therapy.  I especially dislike having to pull them out on their first day back. :-(

However, at least their able to go to ther. apy and the school is working with us.. It could always be worse.

Wednesday Occupational Therapy and Speech: 08/08/2012

Emmett had therapy this afternoon. He did awesome once again. He is so excited to be back that he can’t decide what he wants to do.

He lost a great deal of strength during the 4 month insurance based banishment from the help he so desperately needs.

It’s going to be an uphill journey to get back where he was but I know without a doubt that between Emmett’s tenacity and the dedicated staff at Concorde Kids,  he’ll get there.

Tuesday Occupational Therapy and Speech: 08/07/2012

Elliott and Gavin had therapy this afternoon. I’ve been running around like crazy all morning.  However,  we made it to Concorde Kids with time to spare.

Elliott and Gavin both did really well.  Elliott was even patient while he waited his turn.

After therapy finished up,  we left to pick up Ms. Bella for the vet.  I’ll let you know how that went on another post.

The boys really love going to Concorde Kids and really benefit from the therapy.

The return to progress

Emmett made his triumphant return to occupational and speech therapies today. To say he was excited would be the understatement of the century.

He would only allow me to take him today. I don’t know what that was all about but he was insistent.

I would like to thank Buckeye Community Health Plan for causing Emmett to lose 4 months worth of progress. He has lost a significant amount of muscle tone while they sat on their thumbs for almost 120 days and simply didn’t process the paperwork.  Idiots…..

However,  I’m so excited that he’s back now that I’m moving passed my anger and  frustration.  I’m looking to the future. It was funny because his therapists weren’t sure who was more excited,  me or Emmett.

He did a fantastic job and worked really hard.  He even wrote his own name,  for the very first time.

That is friggin awesome.

I can’t wait for him to return next week and continue making progress.

This was by far,  the highlight of my week.  :-)

Today is an important day

Today is a big day for the Lost and Tired family. Gavin makes his return to occupational and speech therapy.  Elliott will begin occupational therapy for the first time.

This should make a big difference in both their lives and hopefully provide an important outlet for the energies as well.

I’m a bit concerned about Gavin,  only because of,  well,  all his health issues. He’s not only his blood pressure meds right now and I don’t know how he will handle this.

Elliott on the other hand will likely be very nervous and extremely anxious as well.

I fought the insurance company and won

I have finally got Gavin back into OT and Speech.  Elliott will also be starting OT as well,  only for the first time. We are still waiting on paperwork to go through for Emmett.

This is a pretty big deal because I took on the insurance company and won.

The insurance company said that Elliott was to old to start OT and benefit.  He was 5 years old at the time.  They also said that Emmett is never going to improve.

I appealed the decisions,  presented my arguments and 14 days later,  we won. It is possible to take on the insurance company and win.  I don’t know what the odds are but they are zero if you don’t try.

Gavin and Elliott will begin in Tuesday.  Emmett on the other hand will have to wait a bit longer.  I’m going to have to call again on Monday.

This is a huge win for the Lost and Tired family.  The boys have #Autism and sensory issues.  They need these therapies in order to be more comfortable in their own skin and learn to better navigate their world. It took awhile but the effort was more than worth it.
