Lizze is my wife and the mother of my children. We were married on September 3, 2003. We met in April 2001. She is the single most amazing person I’ve ever met. She has been through more so far then most will go through in an entire lifetime. No matter how difficult things get she never quits. She loves blogging. You can find her blog here. You should check it out if you get a chance. Lizze LOVES to write and is EXTREMELY gifted in that department. She is a writer for the Cleveland Examiner and Mother’s Notes If you get a chance check out her articles. She gets paid based on how many people read her articles. Any little bit helps.

Lizze and Emmett John

Through all the pain and heartache that goes along with discovering your children are Autistic and the subsequent challenges that follow, she has been unwavering in her dedication to the kids and their future. She does all of this while in excruciating pain each and every day. Lizze is chronically ill. She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 6 years ago. It was an exhaustive process and took a few years but in the end she was diagnosed. She suffers from chronic daily migraines that don’t respond to medication, arthritis in her hands and other joints, acid reflux. In 2010 Lizze was diagnosed with hypersomnia which basically causes disabling daytime sleepiness and has no know cure.  One of the truly amazing parts about her is that she never complains. Most of the time you wouldn’t even know anything was wrong because she puts on a smile and takes care of everyone else around her. As of 2011, she is facing even more challenges as her symptoms have continued to worsen. Currently walking has become a HUGE challenge for her. The migraines have become more severe then they were previously. Despite the difficulty walking and staying awake she gives us all she has each and every day.

We always joke that on paper we are completely incompatible. No one would have EVER put us together on purpose. Somehow our souls found each other and despite ALL we have working against us we persevere. She is my soul mate and my best friend. The truth is that I would be lost without her.

Hey, has your wife been re-evaluated for her migraines recently? Studies in the last few months have shown that Botox treatments every 6 months or so can treat previously unresponsive chronic migraines. I believe, given with her conditions chronic nature, it may even be covered by your insurance. I was reading a few studies about it lately and it seemed promising and hey, its gotta be worth a shot right?

I'll have to give Lizzie's writing a visit here in a few. I also have Fibromyalgia. Thankfully my symptoms are not as severe as Lizzie's, but sometimes the pain and the fatigue make me almost useless to my guys.
I love the fearlessness you show in posting so honestly about your family. Never stop. It is only through real-life stories and the sometimes depressing, and sometimes overwhelming nature of our lives that others can understand that our reality is a hard thing. There are no do-overs, and usually there aren't many folks around who want to help either. I'll certainly be watching for more of your posts. Know that you will be added to one more prayer this and future evenings. You and your entire family.
I admit to a sunnier perspective, most of the time, of our crazy lives. But at the end of a long day, after three of the guys in my life have had seizures, two have had a meltdown, and it isn't looking to stop, I admit to wanting to throw the towel in and cry, and scream. Our lives aren't pretty most of the time, whether you can see the 'sunny' side of it all or not (and I have been accused of being far too peppy … eh, what can I do?).
Don't know the insurance situation, but if your wife has coverage and hasn't already, she should consider seeing a pain management specialist. Sometimes they are able to find ways to counter chronic pain because of their techniques (or maybe because so many people hurt?). Prayers are with you guys.

Not sure how much you know about different organizations that help, but angelfoodministries.com is a place where you can get food-you pay for it ahead of time and go pick up your box at the end of the month. You know what is in it, so you can avoid the boxes with the things that your children are allergic to. I wish I had money to donate to your kids. My child is gifted, which means that he is emotionally behind, so every task request can be trying. We had thought he may be Autistic at first. I can only imagine the day to day that you go through and really feel for you. I wish there was more I can do! We are struggling ourselves with the economy and having our house on the market for over 18monts. We have been watching every TV show and trying to find out everyway possible to save money. We just watched Nate Burkus last week with the Krazy coupon ladies who tell you where to get every coupon you might need! Good lucj!

Lizzie is such a hero. I can't imagine trooping on if I was in as much pain as her. Have you had her try going gluten free? I have another autoimmune disorder (autoimmune thyroid) and start getting Fibromyalgia symptoms whenever I eat anything with wheat or gluten in it. That includes pain walking and in multiple joints and severe muscle aches and cramps, stomach issues, sometimes headaches, backaches, and fatigue problems.Everything becomes really painful When I stop eating wheat, the pain goes away. Gluten is thought to trigger autoimmune disorder and increase antibodies, for some reason. Weird, but it really messes me up. Just a thought. She could always do a one month trial without gluten to see if it helps.

  8. God bless you, Lizzie. I am so tired with the baby and one "special needs" child (and hubby), I could not imagine doing all that you do in such pain and with your body making dramatic changes.

I wonder if you have done any testing/reading about Lyme Disease? I was diagnosed about a year ago after about 20 years of suffering with what I thought was Fibromyalgia, and am actually improving!!! I'm happy to share my experience w/you or Lizzie if you are interested. We were tested through Igenex, which is expensive, but it has made a world of difference in my ability to function and parent, so I think it is well worth it!

    Hugs,

I have an aunt with fibromyalgia, so I know what it can do to you. If I had money to spare I'd help you in any way that I can, but I have none, so I'm unable to. In which case, I feel bad offering a suggestion you likely can't afford, however, I figure it doesn't hurt to offer it anyway. My aunt's fibro is pretty bad, about as bad as it can get, and she deals with a lot of other issues too, such as arthritis, and migraines; nothing has ever helped her except super strong, and addicting, prescription meds. But then she and my parents were introduced to a product called Zrii. It's a fruit juice, comprised completely of little known fruits, and it's completely all natural. It has proven to have so many amazing benefits, which you can check out for yourself at Zrii.com; but for my aunt, it relieved almost all of her arthritis and fibro symptoms, and solved problems that had baffled other doctors, plus it allowed to go off of more than 20 drugs, with no withdrawal symptoms. It proved to be too expensive, and she had to stop taking it, which cause all of her symptoms to come back, but now she's been awarded disability, and can go back on it again. I know money is tight, and once again, I'd help if I had the means to do so, but maybe you could look into it, and maybe someday you could try some for Lizzie. I know it worked miracles for my aunt, so maybe it can do the same for you guys. Will be praying!
