#Autism and Animals: What’s your experience?

Moments like this make me so happy.  As a father,  I’m thrilled to death that my son has this kind of companionship with his puppy.

Bella is an amazing dog and has done more for Emmett in the last year than all the therapies thus far ever have.

Emmett still spends a great deal of time with Bella, each and every day.

I would love to hear your experience with animals and your #Autistic child’s? Please replay via the comments below……

What a difference a kitten makes

Something happened today that has never happened before, at least that I can remember.

Elliott took a 4 hour nap yesterday afternoon.  He’s never been relaxed enough to really do something like that.

He was snuggled up with his kitten, Dean, and sleeping away like a baby. I was actually quite amazed. Normally, if you even bring up the idea of a nap, Elliott will freak out.  However, with Dean snuggled up with him on his bed purring, Elliott was just out like a light.

I’m really hoping that Dean with have a positive impact on him. If yesterday was any indication, this could indeed be very positive.

I also don’t mean this in the sense that it’s Dean’s job to make Elliott feel better.

However, much like Bella helped Emmett, I’m hoping Dean has the same type of positive effect on Elliott.  In my experience, animals can have a tremendous impact on a child with #Autism.

Bella brought Emmett out of his shell

I’m hoping that Dean and Elliott continue to grow a bond that can provide Elliott with companionship.

It really is amazing to see how different Elliott is when he’s with his new friend Dean. I really hope this continues.  :-)

Whats wrong with this picture?

Last night I went to check on Elliott before go to bed.  This is what I found.  Can you see what’s wrong with this picture?

Let me give you a clue.  It’s not so much what’s wrong but what’s missing.

When I went to tuck my 6 year old son Elliott, this is what I found.  What’s missing? That’s simple, Elliott. In Elliott‘s place was Emmett’s dog Bella

Apparently, she had kicked Elliott out of his own bed last night

Bella is one of those dogs that likes to really snuggle.  Sometimes she doesn‘t realize that she takes you so much room.  She means well but is struggling with boundaries. Ironically, that may need why she fits in so well.  :-)

Miracles Happen

We just got a call from the vet’s office.  In an unbelievable twist of fate,  Bella didn’t ingest anything. She somehow managed to only chew everything up and not actually swallow any of it.

My first thought was how the hell is that even possible

However, my second thought came along and beat the first thought over the head for looking a gift horse in the mouth.

We are going to pick her up in a few minutes.  :-)

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers for our beloved Ms. Bella.

UPDATE:

We just got home from picking up Bella. :-)
The total came to $81 and that was a huge savings over the emergency vet that wanted almost $300 last night.

If your in the Canton, Ohio area and need a vet, shoot me a message.

Poop on the floor

It’s been a really long day,  and it’s only 11:15am. We met with Wraparound,  which I’ll post about later and went grocery shopping.

Emmett has been all over the place today and was all over the grocery store earlier.

As Lizze and Emmett are going down for their naps,  I settled onto the couch to get some writing done. I’m not sitting for 5 minutes before I see Bella cropping on the floor.

Keep in mind that I just let her out.

Why does everything have to be so difficult anymore? I mean,  Bella could have gone potty outside.  She could have even pooped in one spot.

Instead,  it was like someone type of pooping Olympics or something.  She’s walking and pooping at the same time.  As soon as I saw her,  I clapped my hands really loud and said outside. She didn’t allow herself to be distracted.

However, I did startle her.  Upon the clapping of my hands,  Bella goes flying trough the air,  with the greatest of ease.  All while continuing to poop in midair and eventually coming to land on my couch.

I have to love Bella but I don’t have to like her right now.

That’s how my day is going so far.  :-(

I’ll spare you the pictures.

It’s back to the Vet’s with Bella

For Petes sake,  Bella just can’t stay away from the Vet’s office anymore. This time she appears to have an eye infection.  Her left eye seems to be infected,  or at the very least, looks much different than the right eye.

Whatever it is, is in the corner of her eye.

She may have just poked herself in the eye while chewing on a friggin stick.  Either way, I’m hoping all is well and it won’t be anything major.

Please keep her in your thoughts.  I’ll keep you posted.  :-)

Please keep Bella in your thoughts this morning

Ms.  Bella goes back to the Vet’s office at 9am. This time with the hopes of actually getting the stitches, what’s left of them,  removed.

It’s been a long 10 days,  with many trips back and forth.

I can’t wait to get these friggin things out of her and get back to normal. She wants so badly to run and play.  I want so badly to let her.  :-)

**Thanks for reading**
