Are there any Christmas presents you wish you could make disappear?

Every year,  there is always at least one Christmas present that I wish I could make disappear from the house.  Typically, these are really loud or annoying toys however, this year it’s different.

This year, I’m fantasizing about making all the goddamm Silly Puddy vanish without a trace.

I’ve already had to through one blanket away because a huge glob of Silly Puddy was stuck in it.  I’m tired of trying to remove it from the couch cushions, cracks in the hardwood floor and worst of all, the carpet.

I used to love Silly Puddy but now it’s become my nemesis and I wish to vanquish this monster before anything else in my house gets destroyed.

Is there a particular toy or present that someone in your home received that you absolutely hate and wish you could make disappear?

How did your kids hold up this Christmas?

I was wondering how your kids held up this Christmas? Did you see any meltdowns or overstimulation? If you could do it over again, knowing what you know now, would you change anything you did this holiday season?? Will you be doing anything differently next year?

The Gorski Christmas Get Together 2012

I wanted to share some pictures from the Gorski Christmas get together. It was pretty low key, just the way I like it.  The boys did really well and I’m hoping that translates into a quiet evening.

At some point tomorrow, we are going to be going to Lizze’s parents and I’ll take pictures and pass them along.

I hope you all had a great Christmas.  I hope your little ones handled it well and enjoyed themselves.  I also hope that inevitable fallout will be minimal and as painless as possible for both you and your kiddos.  :-)

T’was the night before Christmas……

T’was the night before Christmas and all through the house,  not a creature was stirring and that includes Elliott.  Thank God he actually slept tonight.

He’s snuggled with the two kittens that replaced the dog fearing Sam and Dean.

He’s so peaceful and he’ll be thrilled in the morning to see this picture because they actually sleep with him the entire night.

I’m really going to bed now……….

Good night….

Are you ready for Santa??

Lizze and I have finally finished most of the preparations for the arrival of Santa Clause.

With any luck we should have things wrapped up by tonight. ;-)

The boys are more than ready for Santa’s little pit stop at our house on Christmas Eve night. They are quite excited in fact.

Are your kiddos ready?

The sensory friendly Christmas tree

Today is the day we put up our sensory friendly Christmas tree. We use an artificial tree that doesn‘t have the smell of pine, which I happen to really like,  but the rest of my family doesn‘t.

We have also moved to plane white lights.  Gone are the flashing, chasing or strobe lights.

Bright, Shiney, and noisy ornaments have gone extinct in our house as well.  Homemade paper ornaments are all you’ll find on our Christmas tree.

While it may not be as bright and festive as most others, it’s also not going to push my kids and wife over the edge and into an overstimulated free fall.

As far as decorating around the house, we keep things very simple.

In a family with 4 people on the #Autism spectrum, most often times we find that lees is more.

#Autistic Lego Creations: Emmett’s Airplane

Emmett built this little airplane out of Lego’s this morning,  all by himself.  He did a fantastic job and worked really hard.  I’m quite proud of him,  as he is of himself.

This little airplane is a model of what he now claims he wants for Christmas.

He said that he wants a blue airplane that comes with a controller.  He said it will turn like this,  as he spread his arms wide and ran around the living room,  banking and turning.
I love to see him come out of his shell,  a little more each day.  He’s has come such a long way since his nonverbal days.

Anyways,  this is his prized Lego creation.  He made me retake the picture until he was happy with it.  He’s like a little diva….. :-)
