Having the crap scared out of you, literally

You know how a pet can have a certain quality? Something that you always associate with them. Well,  we have only had Dean for a few days but it’s become very clear that he has a very special talent.

It turns out that anytime that Dean gets scared, he poops on the floor.

This has happened 3 or 4 times now.

Maggie had Dean sorta cornered behind a piece of furniture this afternoon and once again, had the crap scared out of him, literally.

The other three times, Dean pooped on Lizze:-)

Poop on the floor

It’s been a really long day,  and it’s only 11:15am. We met with Wraparound,  which I’ll post about later and went grocery shopping.

Emmett has been all over the place today and was all over the grocery store earlier.

As Lizze and Emmett are going down for their naps,  I settled onto the couch to get some writing done. I’m not sitting for 5 minutes before I see Bella cropping on the floor.

Keep in mind that I just let her out.

Why does everything have to be so difficult anymore? I mean,  Bella could have gone potty outside.  She could have even pooped in one spot.

Instead,  it was like someone type of pooping Olympics or something.  She’s walking and pooping at the same time.  As soon as I saw her,  I clapped my hands really loud and said outside. She didn’t allow herself to be distracted.

However, I did startle her.  Upon the clapping of my hands,  Bella goes flying trough the air,  with the greatest of ease.  All while continuing to poop in midair and eventually coming to land on my couch.

I have to love Bella but I don’t have to like her right now.

That’s how my day is going so far.  :-(

I’ll spare you the pictures.

A restless night that ended with…

Last night was really, really weird. Some how,  I ended up on the couch. I think it was to hot on the second floor and I was uncomfortable.  For me,  I sleep better when it’s colder in the room.

Anyway,  Lizze woke me up when she got up this morning and told me to go upstairs because Elliott wasn’t feeling well and needed me.

I snuggled Elliott in our bed for a few minutes before he sat up and vomited all over the floor. The poor kid kept apologizing while he was puking.  He was upset that he was making a mess in my room. I kept reassuring him that it was okay and he had nothing to apologize for.
Then he realized that he probably won’t be able to go to grandma’s house and color Easter eggs and have the Easter egg hunt.  That was just insult to injury for him.

Poor guy,  I hope he feels better soon.  :-(

Autism, Curiosity and Discovery

Awhile ago,  I found this giant magnifying glass.  Emmett loves this thing and today he went around the house, exploring and discovering cool new things.

He looked at the couch,  floor,  walls, his fingers, Elliott’s face -which didn’t go over well- and a few DS games.

He is absolutely fascinated with how the magnifying glass makes everything bigger
I happen to like how it has peaked his natural curiosity and desire to discover new things.

Have you ever given you ASD child a magnifying glass?  If so,  what was their reaction?  If not,  what are you waiting for?  :-)

Chewing on the ceiling

We discovered a new problem this afternoon.  Well,  actually this has probably been going on a little while now and has only now come to our attention.

I was laying down in bed and little while ago and I heard a loud chewing sound,  coming from the ceiling.

Squirrels have chewed through the facia along the gutter line and entered the wall spaces.  They seem to be chewing their way in farther and farther.

It’s actually really loud and will easily be enough to drive me crazy.

I’ll have to call an exterminator and deal with the problem before the kids start to freak out about it.  Gavin is especially susceptible to paranoia as he is prone to seeing and hearing things that aren’t there.

These little critters haven’t actually made into the house yet but inside the wall and floor spaces is close enough for me.

The adventure never ends…….

Towers of Jello and Meltdowns

Emmett’s not in the best of places today to start with because he has hit another cycle of fevers and cold sores.

We are basically going from one meltdown to the next.

The last one was over a tower of Jello he created from all the Jello cups I bought for him last night.  He couldn’t decide which one he wanted so he unloaded them,  from the fridge,  in groups of two.

He’s very particular about things like this. Numbers and patterns,  colors and shapes are very important to him.

He had eventually removed every Jello cup from the refrigerator and made a tower of them on the table in the living room.

We let him have them out for a little bit but then wanted him to choose the two he wanted and the rest would go back to the refrigerator and go to sleep.

This turned into a 20 minutes meltdown, complete with headache inducing screaming and flailing around on the floor.
I need a frickin’ vacation.

I’m finding that these meltdowns are making me physically ill anymore.

It’s gonna be one those days

Do you ever wake up and within a very short amount of time, you realize it’s gonna be one of those days?

I had to run to Walgreens to get Gavin’s prescriptions.

As I open the window to our rental car to speak to the pharmacist,  all the snow that had been on the roof decided to fall at that very moment.

The drivers side of the car was covered.  Snow piled on my lap and filled the floor board as well as the inside door panel.

It was quite a shock because was most definitely not expecting that to happen.

I’m pretty sure that it’s gonna be one of those days.
