#Autism, Animals and Independence
0I wanted to share with you all another victory Emmett has experienced since getting his puppy, Bella. Bella is a Boxer puppy and Emmett’s new best friend. Our hope was that she would help to bring Emmett out of himself a little bit and we could continue to make some forward progress. I wanted to empower Emmett with a sense of independence, as well as responsibility. So far, Bella has not only More >
#Autism: How I manage a meltdown and self-injurious behavior
6The Lost and Tired family is once again struggling with daily meltdowns and ever increasing self-injurious behaviors. This is one of my very least favorite things to deal with because there is no clear cut right or wrong answer. As my son gets older and stronger, the severity of these meltdowns and self-injurious behaviors becomes greater and greater. We have been coping with severe meltdowns and More >
A new journey begins: Dysautonomia
8Do you ever have one of those days where you realize something and it pretty much turns your life upside down? If you have, than you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, trust me when I tell you it sucks. I posted earlier about a conversation I had with Gavin’s teachers this morning. I thought it was very productive and his teachers were very More >
#Autism: How I manage a meltdown
3For many years we dealt with meltdowns in solitude. We didn’t ever let anyone see these because we didn’t think they would understand. It seemed like something we should keep private. However, all that did was further isolate us from the rest of the world. We would explain to our friends and family about the meltdowns but never allowed them to witness one. Anytime Gavin would get all worked up More >
Please pray for the Lost and Tired kids
3Lizze got back with Emmett from the pediatrician’s office a little while ago. You’re not going to believe what he has now. Go on, guess…… If you guessed pneumonia, you’d be right. Apparently, it’s taken up residence in lower lobes of his lungs. The doctor says that we caught it early and that the antibiotics should take care of the problem and we will hopefully be able to avoid the hospital.

Another day, another trip to the doctors
0Lizze and Emmett are on their way to the pediatrician’s office to get Emmett checked out. He isn’t getting any better and we think he may have strep throat now as well. Whatever he has, has spread to the other boys and that makes three special needs kids, all sick at one time, under the same roof, with a father about to lose his marbles.
Hopefully, he will be able to get some relief and More >
Time to join me and get Fit4Autism
0I came up with the idea of “Fit4Autism“ last year. It’s kind of a play on word’s. However, it’s way more then that. As special needs parents we need to be able to take care of our children for as long as possible. The unfortunate truth is that many of us dedicate so much time and energy to our children that we fail to take care of ourselves.
“Fit4Autism“ is a challenge I’ve issued to myself and More >
From my perspective: 03/21/2012
0I thought I would share with you another moment from my perspective. I think it’s cool to be able to show you a moment from my life, through my eyes.
This is what I saw this morning as I dropped my boys off at school. For whatever reason, when I see Elliott walking into the building, he just seems so small. This is one of those images that I carry with me all the time.

Today’s Victory: 03/21/2012
1Today’s Victory is brought to you by the newest member of the Lost and Tired family, Bella. Bella is Emmett’s boxer puppy and best friend.
Emmett has been really sick for the past few days with fevers exceeding 104°F on several occasions. He has coupe right now but we are suspecting strep because his throat is really sore. There have been many times, like this morning, when he was simply More >
