Progress is progress, right?

At age 3 and approaching age 4, Emmett still doesn’t tolerate clothes most of the time.  OT has been working hard to help with this and we have seen some improvement.

For example,  shoes and socks aren’t as difficult for him anymore.  He’ll take them off the second he gets the chance but he tolerates them much better now.

Clothes on the other hand are a different story.

Go big or go home

I have no idea what is going on with my kids but they are literally bouncing off the walls.  Sometimes when people say that they are speaking figuratively.

However,  when I say that tonight I assure you,  I’m speaking literally.  They are running around,  jumping and screaming and have been doing this since they got home from school.

I’m not sure if there’s a full moon tonight or if they just More >

Terrible Tuesday

0

Well,  we have manic Mondays and the only thing I could think for Tuesday was Terrible Tuesday.

On days like today,  terrible is a pretty accurate description.

Elliott is sick,  Emmett is in a flare and Gavin has already had at least one meltdown this morning. Gavin,  decided that he didn’t want to go to school today.

Typically,  we keep him home from school after an infusion but he’s been More >

#Autism, Anxiety and Emotional Distress

Elliott was a complete disaster this morning.  His anxiety is through the roof and he was refusing to go to school.

I’m not sure what his reasons were because all he was doing was screaming and crying. The poor guy is really struggling right now.

I hate sending him to school like that but he has to go.  His school is totally understanding and will help him through this.

Today is the last More >

Back to normal?

Back to normal?  Well,  not really.  However,  Elliott did go back on to school this morning.

In some ways he seems to be doing better and others he’s not.

He feel asleep to the melatonin last night,  but has been up since 3am.

We called the school and explained everything that was going on and they said not to worry.  They will help him through the school day.

If nothing else,  at least we More >

Hello anti-anxiety medication

5

Elliott began his anti-anxiety medication this morning.  As much as I hate the idea of medicating my 5 year old,  it’s the right thing to do.

We kept him home from school so wrong could keep an eye on him.

Even at the low dose it does appear to be producing a sedative effect.  It will take a little while for us to know if it’s actually helping to reduce his anxiety or not.

Hopefully this will More >

We begin anti-anxiety meds

5

In the morning,  Elliott will finally begin his anti-anxiety medication.

It took forever to get the script worked out between the doctor and the pharmacy.  Elliott will start 5mg of Zoloft in the morning.  This is a very low dose because we are treating anxiety and also,  Elliott is really tiny.

If things don’t improve in the next 2 weeks we will double the dose and see if that helps.

The day that never ends

0

It’s been one of those crazy days that I’m not wanting to repeat anytime soon.

I was literally running around doing errands for most of the day.

By the end of the day I had pulled the seats out of the van, picked up 3 new mattresses,  hauled them upstairs and set them up. Next I had to put the seats back in the van and picked up the boys from school.

I had to also hit the grocery store,  the More >

Please say a prayer for Elliott

I hardly remember yesterday or maybe I’m just trying to forget it.  Either way,  something happened yesterday that may amount to nothing,  but the school was worried enough try and have us come get him -although their attempts were in vain because Verizon must be having network problems and our phones never rang-.

Elliott has been complaining about his joints alot lately.  He has an appointment More >
