Finding something positive in every single day

Let me first say that not everyone can find something positive each day.  The truth is, sometimes there isn’t a positive.  Trust me, I’m all too familiar with that.  Please don’t feel bad if you have one of those days, weeks or years. …………….

With everything going on with Lizze’s aunt, today has been really bad.  Having said that, I really try to find something positive,  every single day of my life.

Despite everything that was going on today, I can easily point out a pretty big positive thing.

I had to give Emmett a bath tonight.

Much of the time, bath time goes well until it come times to wash his hair.  Neither Emmett nor Elliott can cope with water on their face or in their ears.

However, tonight I gave both boys a bath and they each did really well.

I gave Emmett a bath first and Emmett set the bar pretty darn high.  Thankfully, Elliott did the same.  :-)

Are you ready for Christmas??

It never ever fails that we are always scrambling to get things done at the very last possible minute. This year is more exception.

I always promise myself that I’ll do better next year and I end up breaking my promise to myself, year in and year out.

I think I just get too distracted with everything else going on and there’s always something more important at the moment that needs to be done first. It’s stressful and exhausting…..

Once again we find ourselves scrambling at the last minute to finish preparations for Santa Clause.

Are you ready for Santa Clauses arrival?

Is the end of the world today….or what?

I have been following this whole Mayan Calander thing with fascination. It think is so interesting and honestly, really sad that so many people are freaking out over something that happened so long ago.

So their calander ran out, big deal.  Ours runs out every year.  Does that mean that the world will be ending? Of course not.

Forgive me for saying this but there are really some…..um…interesting people out there.

I’ve read about people on a mountain in France, waiting for the mother ship to come and take them away. Really? I’ve also heard about people building panic rooms or fallout shelters in order to survive the pending apocalypse that’s what, like 12 hours away??

I’m of the mind frame that anything could happen. However, whatever does happen, probably has much more to do with what we’ve done as a modern society and nothing to do with anything the ancient Mayan’s ever said.

Something that I try to do and often fall short of is live each days as if it were my last.  By doing that, I figure I have my bases covered.  I never leave anything unsaid and I always, always, always make sure my family knows how much I love them.

For the Lost and Tired family, it’s business as usual. We’ll probably all hang out as a family today and have a nice dinner. I’ll make sure to say how much I love each of them today as well, ya know, just in case.  ;-)

What are your plans for this possibly but very unlikely apocalyptic evening?

Autonomic Crisis, Hives and Way too much stress

We’re sitting here waiting and I noticed something was wrong with LizzeLizze is so stressed out that she’s broken out in hives.  He entire face and neck are covered.

We are getting her some benadryl and hoping for the best.

This is all too much for her.

How do you balance healthy eating vs eating anything at all?

I’ve been on the subject of dietary needs lately.  Many families struggle to get their child on the #autism spectrum to eat, on daily basis.

This is something that the Lost and Tired family is currently working through.

I got to thinking this morning about something and I wanted to share it with you and get your thoughts.

Basically, I was wondering how you balance eating healthy with vs eating anything at all? Does that make sense? Let me give you an example of what I mean.

Right now, the only thing that Elliott will eat, is pretty much East of Chicago pizza. I don’t know what it is about it that agrees with him but he will almost always eat that if offered.

My concern is that he can’t live on East of Chicago pizza, nor can we afford for him to live on it.

However, in the absence of any other viable options, what are we supposed to do?

When you have a picky eater that isn’t just being difficult, how to you balance healthy eating vs eating anything at all?
Does that make sense?

How to foster independence

I wanted to share something with you that I found to be really beneficial to my kids.

I do my best to allow my kids to get as much hands on experience with life as possible. Take a look at the pictures below and you’ll see what I mean.   :-)
